There have been a lot of debates on whether or not the B-ed course should be a three year course instead of a four year course. Therefore I would like to post the question whether or not this course could be fit into a three year course and if so, does it mean that practical teaching should become a thing of the past?

Hi, jansel i am a B-ed student from north west university vaal triangle campus, the curriculum of this course changes every time in this institution, i am doing my very last year, and i have started doing this course in 2005, and should have completed last year, according to the 2005 curriculum the fourth year of study was specifically for subject didactics, that is the methodology of learning areas, now this has changed, the curriculum of 2007,8,9 includes the methodology from the first year of study, now i dont see why it should continue until fourth year, i am of the feeling that B-ed course should now be a three year course. and  there is a great need for educators nationally currently.

I am also having a problem concerning the current duration of the B,ed course, but let us hope that during the long run there will be same changes in terms of duration. Again people who are doing PGEC I,m saggesting it should be not one year added on after they are completing their courses it must be more than that.I think it is highly unfair for those people who have been started B,ed from first year to fourth year because at the end of the day they are competing together with those student who did B,ed from first year when it comes to applying for work.
