Perhaps this issue needs to be addressed on several levels.
For one school managers and educators alike need to see the value of Technology for amongst other things, the critical thinking and reasoning skills that could be gained from it and the potential to develop entrepreneurship interests.
Secondly for those educators who are not in it for the pure passion of teaching the subject, other means of motivation need to be put in place, not the least of which is financial.
Could you imagine the benifit to the learner if you triple the educators salary and put proper educator screening into the system.
Imagine the benifit to the learner if a teachers portfolio was simply Technology as opposed to, Tegnologie gr8, Wiskunde gr8, English gr8, Tegnologie gr9, Technology gr9, English gr10, Maths Literacy/Wiskunde Geletterdheid gr11. Am I wrong in believing that there would be a lot more focus and as a result a better teaching and learning experience?
This is not a complaint, simply an observation. I know of teachers teaching all learning areas in mixed classes. I take my hat off to them and bow respectfully.
