Dear Colleagues

 The Foundation Phase Conference was hosted by the Department of Education -Pretoria on 30 September -1 October 2008 in Mokopane, Limpopo. The Conference was a huge success as it gave classroom based teachers, curriculum specialists and other curriculum experts to share best practices that impact on the teaching of essential literacy and numeracy skills.

 Conference presentations and programme are availbale on this website for further comment.

This rationale for this conference is to ensure that similiar conferences are held in districts and provinces so as to give teachers and other experts the opportunity to share best practices. If you( teacher, unions, Higher Education Institution, Provincial Education Department, other stakeholders) have any ideas as to how we can deliver conferences to teachers please reply below:

As one of the delegates who attended the conference from the Northern Cape province. I  experienced the success of a well planned,motivating and informative conference. I assume that, all delegates will agree with me if I suggest that we cascade the method applied in every respect to the province, but it must be limited, suitable and fit the context of the province.
