One or two spaces after the period? Some controversy remains. Some interesting reading on the issue:

Rules of typography (word processing) and other punctuation issues.

Why not use two spaces?

One space between sentences...

Thanks for posting these pages. I agree that we all need to change our habits with the changes in technology. Unfortunately as adults we are all a bit slow in adapting to change.

A question - will the Grade 12 learners who do the optional speed endorsement be allowed to use a proportional font and not be penalised if they type one space are each full stop?

 I was interested to see in the final practical examination this year that the document for question 2 used a proportional font with "2 spaces" while the documents for question 7 used a proportional font with "1 space" Surprise
