I visited the Sci Bono science centre in Newtown, Johannesburg last year. I spent the day going through the massive collection of exhibits that this centre has and I was pleasantly suprised at the number of exhibits that they have that have relevance and application in our Physical Science curriculum. A day spent there, with proper planning of course would be a worthwhile exercise for both teacher and student.
A document entitled 'Sci Bono and the Physical Science content' has been uploaded as a resource, download it and use it to plan your visit. It is more beneficial to prepare before you visit a science centre. Choose the sections of the curriculum you would like to see demonstrated. This document shows you sections that have exhibits. There is of course more to see at this centre. Visit the centre and let us know what else you discovered at this discovery centre.
