In order to promote widespread sharing and dissemination of the educational content on the Thutong Portal, we have decided to use the Creative Commons licence (Attribution-Share Alike 2.5) to distribute content freely on the site.
Please note that some content on Thutong may be subject to different licensing conditions, which will then be embedded in the content and supersede the Creative Commons licensing conditions.
Attribution
The licensor (Thutong) permits others to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt the work. In return, licensees, that means you, if you want to use the work, must give credit to Thutong and the original author(s) of the material that you use. Licensees must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor. See example below.
e.g. by Nhlanhla Botha on Thutong: www.thutong.doe.gov.za [Accessed on ]
Note: Please be careful to ensure that the reference does not in any way suggest that the author or licensor endorse you or your use of the work.
Share Alike
If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work under the same, similar or a compatible license. Look out for it because it means that you have to use the same terms to license a derivative work!
For example, a teacher makes significant changes to a document that is licensed under a Creative Commons South Africa Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 licence and republishes it under the same licence.
For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the licence terms of this work by stating the specific licence that is being used, with a link back to the legal code of the licence on
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
Any of these conditions can be waived if you get specific permission in writing from the copyright holder.
Thutong licenses its copyrighted work to you on the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/. It should be noted that nothing in this licence impairs or restricts the author's moral rights. This page is not the actual licence. The licence terms are highlighted here in summary to provide a quick reference to the terms in the full licence agreement/s found at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/legalcode
