The starting point should be the Learning Outcome followed by an assessment standard. The tendency is just to teach fractions as if there is no change in the curriculum. People then complain about a curriculum being long.

The following examples shows how it is important to refer to assessment standards in your preparation

Mathematics

This seems to be my problem, please explain further.

can you  please give some tips on how to present the topic finencial mathematics i just want to make it iteresting and enyoyable to myself and the learners

Re: Mathematics

I am not quite sure that I follow what is going on. Would someone please explain. Financial mathematics is quite easy. All you need is to be able to work with interests and compounding it.

Re: Mathematics

Financial mathematics is one of the easier mathematics if only it would translate into savings.

Re: Mathematics

Moate JD: Financial Mathematics is easy to present to learners, you just have to link it to real life situations, e.g. cmpounding the population growth rate in the area where learners live

Re: Mathematics

Molokwane M.J: I totally agree with Moate JD, you can also request learners to bring along to class their parents' account statements. The accounts statements will be used to compound future values of the monthly payments that their parents are paying

Re: Mathematics

I think one good example of helping learners with financial mathematics especially future is to do an example of car payment account. those ones are good examples

Re: Mathematics

Learners at school need to practice maths more often so that they do not encounter problems and should ask for assistance from their teachers

Re: Mathematics

learners need to practice, do toturials more often in order to gain more.

Re: Mathematics

learners today are not serious about their studies they always want to be pushed. If only they can realise that mathematics gets easier each time you practise it. In order for you to be good at it you have to put more effort on it, practise it each and every minute you get.

LEARNERS SHOULD SOLVE AT LEAST TREE PROBLEMS OF MATHEMATICS BEFORE THEY SLEEP EVERYDAY.

Re: Mathematics

i totally agree learners are very reluctant and depend on us, "teachers" to do more than our job. I mean they should put in more efford so they can be better shaped in terms of mathematical skill, after all HARD WORK PAYS!

Re: Mathematics

i've realised that learners are afraid of doing mathematics, they rather go for maths literacy.

Re: Mathematics

I would like to be asssisted in that learning outcome because it seems as if this Lo is challenging the learners. Maybe it is because their background. or they are not interested in that space and measurement. I think the is a problem with learners because they dont comply with their homeworks and assignment.

Re: Mathematics

17111765, I noticed that myself and i think that is narrowing their future opportunities, because with maths and science you have an ocean of opportunities!

Re: Mathematics

Hi guys, Thuso here. I would also like to be assissted with these lesson plans. I personally find it so useless because most educators do it just to keep their files updated, and you find that they have not really followed the plan.

Its just a time consuming mechanism which does not benefit the learners. I mean why have a lesson plan whereas you can just follow your work schedules and do the assessments as planned.
Speaking out of correction guys..

Re: Mathematics

@ Thuso, the lesson plan is just an excuse for HODs to be on your back because after all they have titles and do not know what to do with them. frm motso

Re: Mathematics

I think learners must learn to take responsibility of their future and start realising where they are headed. Our learners are reluctant and depending on us as educators to do everything.

Re: Mathematics

kgomotso Moremi, a learner has to do his part so do you as an educator. If learners could realise that apssing mathematics is up to them, their attitude can determine if they are going to be good mathemeticians or not.

Re: Mathematics

What is the best way of making learners enjoy Euclidean geometry?

With this topic taking around 50 marks in the exam, all I can expect is a disaster.

It is not hard at all but learners really hate it.
